UV Water Purification
UV Water Purification in Sunnyvale
UV disinfection for hillside wells in Los Altos Hills, Saratoga and the Santa Cruz Mountains edge.

Where UV makes sense around Sunnyvale
UV water purification in Sunnyvale is mostly a foothill well job. City water arrives disinfected; private wells in Los Altos Hills, Saratoga and the hills above Los Gatos do not. A UV chamber exposes every drop to ultraviolet light that inactivates bacteria, viruses and protozoa, with no chemicals and no change in taste.
UV only works when the light reaches the microbes. Sediment, iron, manganese and hardness shade them or coat the quartz sleeve, so we test the well first and put the right pre-treatment ahead of the lamp. The chamber is sized by your pump's peak flow.
For city water, UV is usually unnecessary. The exceptions are storage tanks, properties with a history of contamination after repairs, or households advised by a doctor to take extra precautions. In those cases it goes in as a final safeguard after carbon.
Ownership is simple: replace the lamp once a year, clean the quartz sleeve when you do, and keep the pre-filters changed. The lamp-failure alarm tells you if anything goes wrong in between. We put the annual visit on our calendar so the lamp is replaced before its output fades, not after. We will also tell you honestly when UV is unnecessary, which for most valley homes on city water is the case.
